Residence for Social Rootedness

The Permiso de Residencia por Arraigo Social is one of the ways to regularise the legal situation of a foreigner in Spain, especially for those who have established significant ties in the country but are in an irregular situation. This permit is granted under certain conditions and aims to integrate individuals into Spanish society in a legal and formal manner.

Main requirements

Continued Residence in Spain

The applicant must have resided in Spain continuously for at least three years prior to the application.

No Criminal Record

Both in Spain and in the previous countries of residence.

Family or Social Links

The existence of family ties with other residents in Spain or social integration must be demonstrated by means of reports issued by the Autonomous Community or the City Council.

Employment contract

Submission of an employment contract signed by both the employee and the employer, with a minimum duration of one year. In some cases, several contracts totalling the required duration may be submitted.
