Family Links
The applicant must have family ties with a Spanish citizen or a legal resident in Spain. This includes being the parent of a Spanish minor or of a minor legally resident in Spain, or having other specific family ties that justify the application.
Residence in Spain
Although no minimum period of residence in Spain is required as in the case of family roots, the applicant must be residing in Spain at the time of application.
